Where is your rental located?

What is the snow situation?

The Paloheinä ski trails are maintained by the City of Helsinki. For the current state of the trails, please visit ulkoliikunta.fi. In the Facebook group "Paloheinän hiihtoladut" (in Finnish only), individuals update the ski trails daily, but the group is not an official information channel of the City.

What time are the changing rooms open?

Suomen Latu does not operate the Paloheinä hiking lodge (Paloheinän maja), the facilities are owned by the city. The current opening hours and services of the Paloheinä hut can be found on the city's website.

Is there a toilet in your rental?

There are no toilets in our rental house. The nearest public toilets are located at the Paloheinä hiking lodge (Paloheinän maja), about 200 metres from our rental.

Is there a charge for parking?

There is a small parking fee in the parking area, parking is controlled by ParkkiPate. Suomen Latu is not responsible for parking.

Do you have a map of the ski trails?

You can find the city's ski map on the board near our rental, next to the ski trails. We don't have paper maps.

Where can you find the camera link to the ski stadium?

A real-time camera link to the stadium can be found on the city's website.

Is there snow on the sledding hill?

Information on the condition of the sledding hill is provided through the city's information channels.

What is the condition of the skating rinks in Paloheinäki?

Unfortunately we are unable to provide information on the current condition of the skating rinks.

PAYMENTS

Can I pay with sport benefits?

Yes, with Epass and Smartum. We accept mobile and card payments, not paper sports vouchers.

You can pay for skiing courses and equipment rentals with sport benefits. You cannot use sport benefits to pay for ski maintenance or sales items (such as ski maintenance supplies, skis for sale, etc.).

Sport benefits are personally, you can pay course and rental only for yourself.

I am a member of Suomen Latu, can I get a discount in Paloheinä?

Members of Suomen Latu receive a -10% discount on ski rental and courses. The member discount does not apply to ski maintenance or accessories for sale.

RENTAL

How much does it cost to rent skis?

You can find our rental price list on the Rental prices -page. The minimum rental period is 3 hours, longer rentals available too.

Do I need/can I reserve skis?

No need to book skis, you can always rent skis during our opening hours, we have a wide selection. We do not reserve individual ski sets (only for the groups).

Please remember to bring your ID!

Can I leave my belongings at the rental while I ski?

Unfortunately there is no storage space for your belongings in our small rental. You can leave your shoes in the rental shop in place of the rental ski boots. There are changing rooms and lockers at the Paloheinä hiking lodge, 200 meters from our rental.

SKI COURSES

I can't find a free time for a course, how can I book?

Ski courses are regularly opened 1-3 times in advance, depending on the weather and snow conditions. Please follow booking calendars and our updates on Ski courses for adults -page and on our social media accounts.

The course date is in red and I can't book?

A red date means the course is full. You can register by email to the queue for cancellations.

I want to cancel my course, what do I do?

The course booking is binding and does not include the right to cancel. You can transfer the course to another date for 15€ office fee, but you have to inform us at least 24h before the start of the course. Please see the Terms and Conditions page for more details.

I am sick and have to cancel my course, what do I do?

On presentation of a doctor's certificate, the course can be rescheduled for another date for 0€ or a refund of the course fee minus 15€ for office expenses. If you need to cancel your course, please inform us in good time, please see the Terms and Conditions page for more details.

Bad weather, will the course take place?

The course will take place regardless of the weather conditions, provided that the ski trails are in skiable condition. Exceptions are severe frosts (around -15 degrees below zero), storms or other exceptional weather phenomena. Any cancellation/postponement due to frost or other weather conditions will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Any changes or cancellations will be notified to the registrants personally. If you do not receive a cancellation notice, the course will take place normally.

The ski stadium has a thick layer of man-made snow, that will not melt in plus temperatures or in rain.

Are there any ski schools for children?

There is Moomin ski schools in Finnish. You can also book a private lesson for your child.
