Customer

The Customer undertakes to comply with these terms and conditions and the merchant-specific terms and conditions when purchasing products and services on the Internet services of Suomen Latu ry as well as reservations made by email that are paid via the online store / website.

General terms and conditions

  • The prices shown on the website include VAT.

  • Prices Might be time-dependent and vary from month to month, week to week and day to day.

  • We sell products to adult individuals and business customers.

  • We reserve the right to change prices.

  • The customer is responsible for the accuracy of the information provided.

  • We reserve the right to change our terms of delivery. Before placing an order, the customer must read the terms and conditions of delivery in force at the time.

Booking terms and conditions

These terms and conditions apply to the products and services you rent and book. These are collectively referred to as the "item".

Booking, courses

  • The course can be booked through the online store. The booking is always binding without the right of return.

  • It is the customer's responsibility to read the description and instructions of the product to be booked and the terms and conditions of the booking.

  • Adult courses are for adults only, minors cannot attend adult courses even with an adult.

  • The reservation made by the customer is binding when the order, reservation or payment confirmation is sent to the email address provided by the customer. Course bookings postponed to another date are subject to the same conditions as the original bookings.

  • The customer pays for the reservation according to the payment method chosen by the customer and in accordance with the terms and conditions of the payment method.

  • The course is paid in advance at the time of booking.

  • Private lesson bookings made by email: the booking of a private lesson is binding from the moment the customer confirms that he/she wishes to book a specific time for a course. Payment is made by means of a separate payment link and must be made 7 days before the course, or immediately after confirmation if the course is less than 7 days away. The reserved time can be released back for sale if the customer does not make the payment within the specified time.

  • The booking system sends an order/payment confirmation to the email address provided by the customer. The customer must contact the Merchant immediately if the confirmation does not arrive by email.

  • The merchant is not responsible for a failed booking and the customer should contact the merchant immediately to rectify the situation.

  • The merchant gives no guarantee that the item is still free in this situation.

  • If the item is not available, the money will be refunded or, if possible, another item will be offered in its place.

  • The booking is automatically registered in the booking system of Suomen Latu.

It is the customer's responsibility to read the course description, instructions and conditions carefully before booking. The customer may receive additional instructions about the course by email after confirming the booking, the customer is responsible for checking these instructions. The instructor has the right to remove a participant from the course if equipment, clothing or skills do not comply with the instructions and course description.

Rental of ski sets and other equipment

  • Equipment can be reserved/rented at the rental shop and online store. Reservations/rentals are binding.

  • When renting equipment, the customer must present proof of identity.

  • The rental fee is charged in advance.

  • The customer is obliged to return the equipment at the end of the rental period. The merchant has the right to charge an additional fee for late returns in accordance with the price list.

  • The customer undertakes to return the equipment in the same condition as it was when rented and, if necessary, to compensate for damaged or lost equipment. The condition of the equipment will be checked before rental and upon return.

  • The use of rental equipment is at the customer's own risk.

  • Rental box: the customer is obliged to carefully read the instructions provided in advance regarding the use of the box and equipment. The customer must contact the merchant immediately if they do not receive booking instructions after payment confirmation.

  • The booking system sends an order/payment confirmation to the email address provided by the customer. The customer must contact the Merchant immediately if the confirmation does not arrive by email.

  • The merchant is not responsible for a failed booking and the customer should contact the merchant immediately to rectify the situation.

  • The merchant gives no guarantee that the item is still free in this situation.

Ski maintanance

  • Outside opening hours, customer can book a specific time slot for bringing their skis in for servicing.

  • Customers will be given an exact pick-up time for their skis when they bring them in for servicing.

  • Ski maintenance can be paid for in advance in the online store, when bringing the skis in for maintenance, or when picking up the maintained skis. The merchant will hand over the maintained skis at the agreed time once payment has been made.

  • Skis must be picked up on the agreed date, or the marchant may charge a storage fee of €3/day if the customer has not notified them of any impediment.

Cancellation terms

The course will take place regardless of the weather conditions, provided that the ski trails are in skiable condition.

Exceptions are severe frosts (around -15 degrees below zero), storms or other exceptional weather conditions. Any cancellation/transfer due to frost or storm will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Any changes or cancellations will be notified to the customer personally.

Customers must bring their own weatherproof warm clothing.

The course will be take place according to the number of participants mentioned in the course description.

If the instructor appointed for the course is unable to teach the course, the merchant has the right to replace the instructor with another instructor of equivalent skills without prior notice to the customer.

For other activities (snowshoeing, cycling, roller skiing, walking, Metsämieli), the course will be held regardless of the weather, provided that the environment is safe and allows for the activity: enough snow in the forest for snowshoeing / cycling trails in good condition / ground not slippery for roller skiing etc. Exceptional weather conditions may also prevent these activities, but normal rainfall is not an obstacle.

Mechant cancellations:

If the course has to be cancelled, the merchant will inform each participant of the cancellation separately.

If the course is cancelled by the merchant, you will receive a full refund of the course fees paid. The merchant may also offer a new course date before refunding the money. Reasons for cancellation can be illness of the instructor, bad skiing conditions, exceptional weather or other force majeure.

The course is not cancelled by the merchant if the participants have not been informed personally by phone, email and/or SMS.

Participant (curstomer) cancellations:

  • The course booking is BINDING and does not include the right of cancellation.

  • Without a medical certificate, the course can be transferred once, the transfer fee is 15€.

  • The possibility of transfer is subject to the customer cancelling the course at least 24h before the start of the course in writing by email to paloheina@suomenlatu.fi. The new course time will only be confirmed once the transfer fee has been paid.

  • The merchant does not accept cancellations/transfers over the phone, only by email.

  • The course place may be transferred to another person if the customer is unable to attend (not applicable to participation paid with sports benefits, Epassi/Smartum/Edenred).

  • Moomin ski schools: cancellation (due to illness or reschedule) must be made in writing by email no later than 12 noon on the day before the ski school begins.

  • Private lesson cancellation (illness or reschedule) less than 24 hours before the course: 100% charge despite a medical certificate.

  • In case of illness, the merchant will refund the fees minus 15€ office fees if the customer provides a medical certificate by post Paloheinän hiihtopalvelu, Pakilantie 124, 00670 Helsinki or by e-mail paloheina@suomenlatu.fi. The general course can be transfered to another date for free when the customer provides a medical certificate. In case of illness, the transfer or cancellation must be made no later than 9 am on the same day (for evening courses) or 6 pm on the previous evening (for morning courses).

  • Ski course bookings cannot be carried over to the following winter season.

  • The customer must always notify the merchant of the cancellation in a timely manner. Failure to attend the course without notifying the merchant by the above-mentioned deadlines before the course does not constitute a cancellation and does not entitle the customer to a refund or reshedule of the course.

  • The dates and times of multi-session ski schools (4 x ski schools, Moomin ski schools, etc.) cannot be changed/replaced with other courses.

  • The 14-day right of withdrawal for distance selling (online sales) does not apply to leisure services (such as skiing courses) that have been agreed for a specific time.

Private course and/or equipment rental for groups terms and conditions

  • The booking is binding from the moment the customer confirms that they are booking a specific date for a course.

  • The final number of persons and the necessary rental equipment must be confirmed at least 14 days before the event.

  • The event will be invoiced according to the number of persons confirmed.

  • If the customer cancels the event completely, the following conditions will apply:

Cancellation more than 14 days before the event free of charge.

Cancellation 5-14 days before the event, 50% of the confirmed total will be charged.

Cancellation less than 5 days before the event, 100% of the confirmed total will be charged.

  • Rescheduling by the customer less than 14 days before the event, office charges 30€.

  • These conditions do not apply if the merchant cancels or postpones the event due to snow or weather conditions, illness of the instructor or other force majeure.

  • For changes to billing information (sent bills) and sending a credit note, the merchant charge a 15€ office fee.

  • Billing fee 5€.

Shcool groups terms and conditions

  • Reservations are made within fixed time slots, during which the equipment must be picked up and returned.

  • The reservation is binding when the customer successfully books a time slot in the online store or when the customer confirms the time slot by email at the price and with the additional information provided by the merchant.

  • The merchant reserves the right to return the reserved time slot back to sale if the customer does not provide all the reservation details requested by the Merchant within the requested time.

  • Reservations can be cancelled or rescheduled 7 days before the start of the reservation. Otherwise the merchant charge the full price of the reservation.

  • Due to weather conditions, the reservation can be cancelled free of charge (if it is more than -15 degrees below zero outside). The situation must be assessed in advance with the merchant; failure to show up does not constitute cancellation.

  • Cancellations must be made in advance by email to paloheina@suomenlatu.fi.

  • The Customer is responsible for replacing any equipment that has been deliberately broken. The customer is obliged to instruct their group on the correct use of skis and where to use them so that the equipment does not get damaged.

  • The merchant has the right to charge a 50€ cleaning fee if the equipment is not left neatly in its correct place in accordance with the instructions provided.

  • The merchant has the right to charge a late fee of 25–100€ for equipment returned late. The price depends on the length of the delay and whether another group is waiting for their turn to ski.

  • The merchant charges 15€ in administrative fees for changes to billing information (sent bills) and sending credit notes.

  • Bosti billing surcharge of 20€ if the total amount of the invoice is less than 400€.

  • Billing fee 5€ ("normal" billing or when Bosti amount is more than 400€).

The merchant's right to make changes:

Suomen Latu ry reserves the right to make changes due to changes in prices, force majeure or other circumstances beyond the control of Suomen Latu ry.

Damage compensations

  • The Customer is liable to compensate the Merchant for any damage caused by the Customer to the object. The Customer is also liable for any other persons visiting the property and for any damage caused by them during the reservation.

  • The Merchant shall not be liable for any damage or expenses caused to the Customer by natural conditions such as insects, animals, sleet or unexpected weather changes.

  • If the Customer loses the key, the Customer must compensate the Merchant for the new locks + keys.

Complaints

  • Any complaints should always be made as soon as possible after the issue arises.

  • If there is no satisfactory solution or a claim for compensation, the complaint must be sent in writing within one month of the end of the rental period.

  • The Merchant will endeavour to deal with the complaint as quickly as possible, but not later than one month.

  • If the Customer and the Merchant do not reach an agreement, the Customer may refer the dispute to the Consumer Complaints Board.

Delivery conditions

Conclusion of the contract

  • The binding contract for the transaction comes into force when the order is confirmed (order confirmation/payment confirmation).

  • The order confirmation/confirmation of payment is sent to the customer by email.

Cancellation and return of the transaction

  • Products are non-returnable.

Product guarantee

  • We comply with the warranty conditions specified by the manufacturer or importer.

Delivery

  • Delivery costs include postage and packaging. You can view the delivery costs after you have selected the payment and delivery method for your shopping cart.

Payment terms

  • The merchant uses reliable and secure payment methods for its services.

  • The Merchant does not store bank account or credit card information at any time.

  • The Customer agrees to abide by the terms and conditions of the payment method chosen by the Customer.

  • Payment by invoice

    • Billing fee 5€.

    • The invoice must be paid by the due date indicated on the invoice.

    • Invoices paid after the due date are always subject to late payment charges. If the invoice is paid after the due date on the original invoice and late payment charges have already been incurred, the charges will be invoiced separately.

  • If the payment transaction has not been successfully completed at the time of the order, the Merchant will not process the order.

Insurance

  • Participants are recommended to take personal accident insurance.

  • Suomen Latu has accident insurance for participants (insurance only applies to permanent residents of Finland).

  • Suomen Latu has the organiser's liability insurance.
